Hair, Be Gone! Philips Lumea Prestige Review
Hair removal? Oh the joys of that old chestnut, right ladies?
I went to have acupuncture done the other day on my calves due to an injury, and realised half way through the massage with the super polite Meiko, that I hadn’t shaved my legs in about a good week. She said nothing, but we both knew.

Fair to say the first thing I did when I got home was shave the hell out of my legs, which did not me or the lovely Meiko any help at this point. Sorry about that one babes, you were a trooper though!
This seemed like the perfect opportunity to try out the Philips Lumea Prestige IPL at home system that I received on my legs! I had been using it on my, cough, sensitive areas, and my under arms for a couple of weeks, and had not thought until this point about using it on the place where I shave the most.
After 1 session (which I am not going to lie, took some time- I am all legs though), I found that the hair regrowth was noticeably reduced. I shaved once in 10 days. ONCE!!! No I am not a super hairy person, but ONCE!!!! In 10 days!!!!
The light pulse is charged up within 2 seconds, and signals with a green light to show it’s ready to fire off hair killing lasers when you are. It’s super user friendly and comes with two attachments – one for your bits and pieces and one for larger areas.
I was super apprehensive about the pain when I first tried it. Awkward dancing around my bathroom did occur. But there was nothing more than a warm sensation on the skin afterwards. The only time you get a slight ping is if you come across a hair that has been missed when shaving.
Every 2 weeks after the initial session you repeat, and then maintain every 4-8 weeks after that. The machine is small and super portable, with its own little carry bag to keep the charger and attachments all together.
Now although the machines themselves aren’t cheap, when you think about the time you save shaving, the money you save on a lifetimes worth of razors, or paying for clinical IPL (jesus wept, you might as well re-mortgage your house), it really is a fabulous long term investment.
Justifying purchases 101: Meiko this is purely for your benefit girl. I will be silky smooth next time, because someone has to enjoy these hairless pins!
IPL Convert. There shall now be no hair on my body from the eyebrows down. I am super excited to see how it goes over a longer period of time.
Thanks Philips ya bunch of legends!
