A Touch Of New York Streets
I expected to walk straight into a scene from Sex and The City or Gossip Girl when I travelled to New York, with Serena Van Der Woodson's and Carrie Bradshaw's lining the streets, looking down on my Aussie street style.
But really, it made me realise how much of a jeans and t-shirt nation the US really is, and how fashion forward we are on this side of the world. Laid back, nonchalant, Nike obsessed, "I literally just threw this on" style is what I discovered, and I must admit, I was a little disappointed. Bradshaw, you set my expectations very high lady!
Never the less, I brought home some take away lessons from my time in the states, and I have found myself embracing these almost every weekend. Even Serena needs to chill out sometimes! I live in either one of my two pairs of black high waisted jeans, and have a new found respect for a well fitted basic T-shirt. Pair this with a leather jacket or a bomber and some Reebok Originals and you are good to go!
I found this Adidas Originals T-shirt in an Urban Outfitters store near Soho for about $30USD, and found these Reeboks there but actually purchased them from Glue Store on sale (cha-ching!). My bomber is from The Bronze Snake Shop, which is my new fav spot for aforementioned well fitting basic Tee's that don't break the bank.
Comfort meets street steeze; these yankees may have something here.
While I have left a part of my heart in NYC, I brought back a part of it with me in the form of some ink from Kings Ave tattoo's. Like I'll ever forget the place, but this will really make sure it's permanently etched into me.
I'll be back New York, this love story isn't over.
